Email 1

Greetings from Washington DC!
After much planning, semi-preparation, and a weeks' worth of travel, I am here in Washington D.C. 2002.

Now on with the semi-regularly planned update:
As most of you know, Mom and I had planned a weeks' worth of travel to get to DC. We planned to visit Gettysburg, PA and Philadelphia before turning our sights toward the nation's capital. The Friday we were to leave I managed to pretty much total my car and involve two other cars in the accident.

Yes, I'm fine. Nothing broken or hurt...other than my pride...and the others in the two cars were fine as well. God granted us all health and granted me the blessing of not receiving a ticket, mostly because a witness came forward and informed the officer that I had done all that I could to stop, but it wasn't enough on the slippery roads. Therefore, Mom and I took her car out on the 800+ road trip--and she did good.

Email Mom if you want stories from the trip, but there is one highlight I wanted to mention (and some of you will think us crazy) but we did wait and watch at 14th and Constitution for the late Senator Kennedy's funeral procession to pass by on its way to Arlington National Cemetery. While waiting we talked with a couple of DC locals and had a great conversation about how politics should never get in the way of relationships--a great lesson to learn for someone who is more than likely about to be rooming with someone who does not share my opinion on all issues.

On Sunday August 30th, I moved into the apartment I'll be sharing with two other girls for the next three and a half months. It's on the top floor, and there's no elevator. I get to run up and down four flights of stairs more than twice a day (average). Yay. But honestly we got one of the best apartments with a much bigger kitchen than most (if not all) of the other apartments. The ceilings are also higher and we have built in book shelves and (amazingly) enough room for all of us to have enough hanging and folded closet space. God's looking out for me.

We have a whirlwind first week where we'll be visiting a great many of DC's amazing museums (not just the Smithsonians) and going to our first performance on Saturday night. And we have to wear business dress for it all. Yay. At least we get some practice of wearing our interning clothes before we actually have to wear them, but Washington is very hot and humid during the summer and although it's not quite that bad at the time I'm writing this email, wearing slacks, jacket, closed toe shoes, and shirt (even if it is sleeveless) is not easy--its a lesson in dedication, perseverance, and thinking cool thoughts.

Anyways, I have reading to do.

Till next message.
And feel free to forward this along. I don't have everyone's email address.
In Christ,

Testing of Email

This will be quite helpful if I can simply email a blog post. Having email on my fantastic BlackBerry allows for so much more freedom and ease of access to friends and family; and now for any to happen upon this humble place. One thing is for sure: this is bound to be interesting.
